Bistrotheque

About Bistrotheque

Bistrotheque restaurant in an artistically happening part of the East End of London is tucked away down a side street and housed in a former clothing factory – look for the loading bay with table and chairs. The excellent menu focuses on classic bistro dishes prepared with a deft hand and served with style in the first floor dining room which is itself a haven of cool stylishness. The walls are white, the floor concrete, the tabletops marble and many of the windowpanes original 1930s issue – it all combines to make a coherent industrial-meets-bistro look. In the centre of it all you'll find the shiny baby grand piano that comes to life each Sunday brunch. The bar and cabaret downstairs is one of the great locations in London to enjoy drag acts, comedy and revues. Bistrotheque's relaxed, focussed Sunday supper with Xavior on the piano is becoming something of a local tradition.

Bistroschmecktgut! This is amazing; unique, edgy, comfortable and atmospheric. I was astounded by the coolness of this hackney hideaway. Meals not overpriced, portions not large though, but just right for us. Service really hip and happy. Love it so much I've booked to come back next week!

It has taken me far too long to discover Bistrotheque in London's East end. I'm hoping next time to see one of the shows downstairs which I've heard great things about. But this Saturday evening was dinner only. It is wherehouse dining, the venue blending into the surroundings. Decor is simple, not over the top. Staff were knowledgable and attentive, not too much. All food delicious, pistachio souffle our decided fave. £100 for 2 heads, 3 courses with wine and coffee, worth every penny.

Brunch was had. Good menu choice, but food all a bit cold and tepid like it had been sitting around just that little bit too long...

I've always tried to get into Bistrotheque on a weekend brunch and it's always been packed. So we went on a wet and wooly night in early January and the place was half emtpy. Was great to try the food though - much enjoyed. Even for my friend who is gluten free. In Hackney area can't be beat for a special meal.

Bistrotheque is my favourite local restaurant. The service is always lovely and attentive without being too fussy. And the food is excellent, I have never had a disappointing meal here!
