About Silk
The combination of Silk's classic courtroom setting and innovative Asian-fusion cuisine, offers a fine-dining experience with unique appeal. The 2009 Michelin-recommended restaurant, which in its former capacity as courtroom no. 1, witnessed the trial of Oscar Wilde is now a destination for more culinary pursuits and features an inspired seasonal menu of exotic pan-Asian flavours from across the ancient Silk Route.
Toptable says about Silk
The combination of Silk's classic courthouse setting and innovative Asian fusion cuisine has resulted in a high-concept dining experience not to be missed. The traditional oak-panelled room at the Kempinski Hotel – formerly the infamous Number One Courtroom where Oscar Wilde, Mick Jagger and John Lennon have stood trial - contrasts with the contemporary, cutting edge cooking and Silk's zen ambience, but helps creates a unique and cosy vibe. Head Chef Rajesh Parmar has created a menu inspired by the silk route, blending Italian, Asian and Middle Eastern influences. Signatures dishes include the scallops served in a delicately spiced ginger and coconut froth, and deep fried wing beans served with sweet chilli sauce.

Beautiful environment but lacking atmosphere. Prices were high. The dishes were designed and presented correspondingly well, but the flavours were not up to the same standard.
The food and service at Silk was excellent. I really enjoyed the fact that we were given a brief history of the building which was previously a magistrates court, by the brilliant serving staff when we arrived at the restaurant. My only negative comment would be the cost of drinks, with the cheapest bottle of wine being £25. However the toptable 2 for 1 offer provided excellent value and the experience was well worth it.
We dined at Silk the other night and were quite taken by its surroundings and history. The restaurant itself is quite historical and the accompanying bar is great too. The menu is very interesting and makes a good mix of indian and thai. I did feel that it was alittle expensive.
I went to Silk using the Top table 2 for 1 offer. We had a lovely meal, which also seemed quite healthy. The service was amazing. I thought with the offer it was good value, normally I think it might be quite pricey. Our bill came to £60 for two with the offer and only one glass. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a meal out as a couple or for business
Silk had wonderful food in a beautiful historic building. I am a carnivore but I would order the tofu dish in a heartbeat. It was tasty and filling. The chili prawns were succulent and the size of small lobsters.
