Lovely Bank Holiday Monday lunch at Blakes. Venue was very quiet but food made up for it. No prosecco on offer and champagne by the glass at £12.50 a bit steep. Also gratuity here is 15%.
I saw Blakes listed in a top 10 of romantic restaurants in london, but the decor seemed to be very Japanese Samurai (oriental with heavy bachelor pad black everywhere) with dim lighting. I normally think of low lighting as romantic and intimate, but in Blakes it was just dark and this made it difficult to see the food and read the menu. I really wanted to like it, but admit to being disappointed.
Great food. Pricy even with the 3 course for £35. Bill averaged out to £60 per person. Was a good night thou. Decor
Blakes Hotel in South Ken is really gorgeous. Lovely food, lovely ambience and great service. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed!
This place is a hidden gem tucked away in the basement of Blake's hotel. The decor oozed class, dimly lit with traditional samurai type wall pieces. The drinks are pricey (at around £12.50) however with the TT offer the food was great value. We had the miso soup to start and for mains the ginger and garlic chicken which was amazing. The service was fantastic; the staff decorated our desserts with a message of "congratulations" as it was our anniversary. I would definitely recommend this place.
