Johnston's Restaurant

About Johnston's Restaurant

Johnston’s Restaurant boasts a convenient central London location, just off The Strand. The restaurant is inside the lovely Strand Palace Hotel, so obviously one to consider if you’re a guest there, but it’s also perfect for a little post-shopping afternoon tea and general rest and recreation, or a quick pre-theatre meal (reviews confirm that the pre-theatre menus, on offer from 12pm until 7pm, offer very good value). The food here is modern British – classic British produce rubbing shoulders with European, Asian and Middle Eastern influences. The décor is modern and attractive, with wood and mirror panelled walls, earth toned booths and dark wooden furniture giving Johnston’s Restaurant a distinctly European feel. Add to all of this friendly staff and a well-rounded wine list, and you’re guaranteed to enjoy your evening here, whether you’re after a quick lunch with friends or a candle-lit romantic dinner.

Johnstons proved to be an ideal choice for a pre-theatre three course meal (15.95 GBP). Although the 'menu of the week' (available throughout the day) naturally offered a limited selection of courses our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed each of the starters and each of the desserts. All of the main courses were inviting and those selected proved to be delicious. The service experienced was excellent throughout; wine well chilled, water iced, service charge left to our discretion.

Johnston's proved to be an ideal choice for a lunchtime reunion with an old friend. We enjoyed an inviting selection of tasty dishes from the menu of the week, welcoming and effective service, and comfortable seating while chatting for three hours! We previously found Johnston's to be admirable for a pre-theatre meal and therefore expect to return regularly.

Johnston's restaurant is a good venue for a range of occasions. Their pre-theatre menu and and lunch menu are particularly good value. The food is well presented and good and the staff are courteous and friendly.
