Hereford Road

About Hereford Road

Set inside a former Victorian butcher’s shop in the trendiest part of West London, Hereford Road restaurant has fast become a favourite with Notting Hill locals and foodies from further afield. The décor is sleek and unfussy, almost minimalist, but the buzz of the open-plan kitchen adds a welcome touch of theatre to the ever-humming restaurant. Having trained under Fergus Henderson and formerly head chef of St John Bread and Wine, chef Tom Pemberton shows his commitment to well-sourced ingredients and hearty flavours in his British cuisine. The menu changes daily to reflect all that is best in the seasons and the market. Our favourites include the braised leg of guinea fowl, loin of Blythburgh pork with swede and greens, and the excellent buttermilk pudding with rhubarb. While the cosy banquettes are well-suited to intimate suppers, Hereford Road is equally inviting at lunch when the prix fixe and express menus are extremely popular.

Went to Hereford Road, London for lunch yesterday. Really great value for great food - went for lunch deal of 3 courses for £15.50. Frequently changing menu is always a nice surprise. Had a really excellent beetroot and sorrel salad, then pheasant (a bit dry but sitting in much delicious liquid that it was OK) and rum raisin ice cream. I think the food is better at dinner, which is always faultless.

I had lunch at 3 Hereford Road on Saturday 7/1. This is a pleasant and relaxed restaurant. Cooking is quite plain but very competent. The menu is rather limited (needs another meat course). Ingredients are fresh. Service is amiable. Slight irritations: sparkling water is overpriced; coffees are charged individually (i.e. a second coffee is a second charge - I wish restaurants didn't do this); the attractive lunch deals only operate Mon - Fri, but not Sat, when the restaurant is much quieter.
