Indian Zilla

About Indian Zilla

Indian Zilla restaurant takes its name from the Indian term for a small district or neighbourhood, an appropriate choice for a dining room in Barnes, London’s most village-y spot. Bright and modern, Indian Zilla is a carefully appointed space in which guests enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and fine service surrounded by bare brick and white paint, coloured glass and vibrant art, all set behind pretty frosted windows. Led by Head Chef Manoj Vasaikar, the Indian Zilla kitchen is focused on producing traditional Indian cuisine with Vasaikar’s own signature lightness of touch, picked up during his time with top Indian hotels then in London restaurants including Chutney Mary and Veeraswarmy. Blending recipes from the palaces of the Maharajas with the dishes eaten in Indian homes and the traditional street foods of the cities, Indian Zilla brings together old style regional cookery and modern techniques for an imaginative take on Indian cuisine.

Our 1st visit but we shall return. We braved the prevailing snowy conditions but thoroughly enjoyed the meal even though the starter portions were perhaps a little meagre. The spicy tastes were subtle & not too hot & this was definitely a curry with a difference. The service was good & we are pleased to have discovered this gem which has been going for 2 years now.
