Kicca

About Kicca

The Chelsea dining scene has warmly embraced Kicca – a luxe and loungey Italian on Draycott Avenue that has received rave reviews from everyone from the local Italian community to fashionistas who lunch. The glamorous dining room could be described as Holly Golightly meets Sophia Loren – a high-wattage fusion of Italian style and eccentric accessories such as the Shiaparelli pink suede banquettes, crystal chandeliers, candles and pearlised mosaics. With its killer espressos, homemade bread, silky pasta and beautifully dressed salads, Kicca has earned itself a loyal following and the restaurant is always filled with a buzzy crowd. Semi-private dining areas are available for dinner parties, and Kicca hosts dinner-and-drinks nights every Sunday with a live DJ.

This is the 3rd time I've eaten at Kicca and as usual the food was good and they had a great service. The restaurant has a very nice, intimate feel about it. The portions are generous. The best starter by far is the goats cheese salad with beetroot, walnuts and rocket. I was disappointed with the calamari though. The pasta on the other hand is fresh and simply delightful. Overall a great place and the prices are very reasonable for the area and the quality.

On arriving at Kicca in Chelsea at 8pm on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was empty of guests, causing us to wonder if we had made the right choice. However, we were quickly rewarded once we sat down with excellent food and good, friendly and effective service. Although the restaurant never got above half full, there was no lack of atmosphere. The starters and antipasti were inventive and clearly prepared with love; the main courses lacked the same flare and initiative but did not disappoint.

I expected more from Kicca in Chelsea. Lovely setting. Pasta was very good and the fish was excellent. However, not blown away by the meal and it was pricey. Wine list is very reasonable.
