We had a lovely evening at the Spread Eagle in Greenwich. The restaurant and ambience was classy and very special. The price came out at around £50 a head for the prix fixe with drinks although only 2 of us managed a pudding. The welcome was good and the service was prompt and professional. The food was well presented but lacked a little something in the flavour department that at that price we had expected. All in all we enjoyed our meal. Also book you own cab as theirs took ages to come.
I went to Spread Eagle in Greenwich for my birthday. The service was exellent as was the yummy food. I highly reccomen the sholder of lamb with soft polenta. Nice atmosphere and fast service. I would def reccomend and reeturn.
Mighty Eagle falls off perch We were 2 of only 4 diners at 8pm. ‘Greeted’ by waiter, made to feel we had ruined his evening. Served average food with missing ingredients to those advertised. Service lacking. Complaints met incomprehensible retorts. No response from the Chef, no apology, nothing. Left after mains utterly disappointed. The Spread Eagle needs to pull its socks up or it will continue along its path of being a crumby, fusty old restaurant attracting only unwitting tourists.
We went there for an informal team lunch and had the wonderful private room. Service was attentive and extremely friendly, and the food was really good quality. Even the choice on the group menu was great and generous, so I can only imagine was the "normal" menu must be like - lovely!
Excellent food but terrible service. The restaurant was empty at the time we went (mid week 7pm) but it still proved to be difficult to get the waiters attention and his service was not worth the wait. A shame, as the food was very good.
