About Magdalen
For first class food and wine near London Bridge, take a trip down Tooley Street and discover Magdalen restaurant, one of London’s true hidden gems and a convincing proponent of French cuisine. Owned by a group of chefs who earned wide critical praise and a devoted following at La Trompette, Magdalen restaurant offers an Anglo-French menu with seasonal British produce, sourced daily from nearby Borough Market. The bijoux restaurant is both formal and charming. During the day, the modestly-priced lunch menu attracts local City workers, while in the evening, the dining room fills up with well-dressed foodies and pre-theatre couples. Some the most popular dishes on Magdalen’s twice-daily changing menu include the roast Hereford rib with beetroot and horseradish, the rabbit rillette, and the whole grilled lemon sole. With knowledgeable staff and a thoughtfully-compiled wine list that expertly covers the French regions, Magdalen is perfect for low-key lunches and cosy dinners in SE1.

Good food at great prices in this cosy but busy restaurant close to Tower Bridge. Far more reasonable than the bigger, more expensive eateries in this touristy area - but more than a match for quality. Service was quick and efficient.
This is truely one of my favourite restaurants and is a regular dining place whether lunch or evening. The food isdelicious, service good and ambience very nice.
A cosy and rather busy restaurant serving good food at extremely reasonable price. Service was poor on the day we had lunch there, however. Courses were slow in coming and some olives we ordered during the long wait didn't arrive until after we had our starter. Hopefully, it was just an off-day because otherwise, this is a good find. Will probably give it another try.
I visited Magdalen for a business lunch. This restaurant has a very elegant feel but let it self down by having a paper table cloth it's generally something you get in TGI Fridays. Food & service were excellent though. I ate the fried calves’ brains & braised beef of cheek. Wine selection was good but could do with more of a selection of non french wines. Overall a lovely restaurant.
Another absolutely delicious lunch at Magdalen on Tooley Street. We made a unanimous decision between the 4 of us that this is our favourite restaurant in the area. Absolutely delicious potato cake with smoked salmon & then pork belly with beans in roasted tomato sauce. Everyone else said their food was faultless too. We'll definitely be back as soon as we can find an excuse for another work lunch!
