La Menara Restaurant
About La Menara Restaurant
This down-to-earth Middle Eastern restaurant near Charlotte Street is always filled with an eclectic mix of Londoners and tourists kicking up their heels in true Morrocan style. Conveniently located for the West End's abundance of bars and theatres, La Menara is a fun place for celebrations and birthdays. Decorated with deep red and salmon pink walls and blue velvet chairs, the restaurant is renowned for its friendly staff and bellydancers, and favourite dishes from the menu include the Tagine Lahem Belbarkouk – lamb cooked in a terra cotta clay pot with prunes; the Chicken Bastilla – a chicken pie with almonds, herbs, saffron and eggs; and the Menara Brochettes – skewers of meat marinated and served with Moroccan salad and rice.

What would have been a perfectly nice dinner was ruined by a lack of customer service. Outside was a sign stating '25% off all food between 5-7pm' so you would assume this would automatically be taken into account. When the bill came and this wasn't the case, we questioned it and were told that because we didn't mention it on arrival it didn't apply to us? She then backtracked saying we hadn't ordered enough food to qualify? We paid the bill but won't now be returning when we had planned to.
Great night at La Menara Restaurant. It has a cosy an intimate ambience, fabulous food and lovely attentive and friendly service.
We had a pleasant evening at La Menara. We were the only ones at the restaurant that night, except for another table with two customers. But this was all for the best as we were able to have a nice chat with friends and take our time. The place has a very nice ambiance, you feel like in Morocco there and service was friendly. Food was good and reasonably priced as well. All in all, a place worth visiting.
La Menara has a relatively limited menu but what we ate was excellent ~ my aubergine salad was really delicious, and both our tagines (one chicken, one lamb) tasty and satisfying. Best of all was the service ~ both young women were so charming and friendly. The restaurant was quite quiet but after a hectic day it was a perfect relaxing environment. A very pleasant evening out.
Authentic food, good service and nice environment. Very good dining experience.
