Melanie's Italian Restaurant

About Melanie's Italian Restaurant

An Italian restaurant out of the ordinary, Melanie’s specialises in Neapolitan food, setting it apart from the numerous other dining rooms in London’s central Soho area. Located on the notorious Old Compton Street, close to Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and the numerous theatres and cinemas the West End has to offer, Melanie’s is easy to spot thanks to its large awning proudly displaying the red, green and white of the Italian flag. Inside, you’ll find a dining room clad in much light wood and full of light, traditional, simple and comfortable in its décor. In the kitchen, the focus is very much on the use of good ingredients, the chefs sourcing local and seasonal produce for their classic Neapolitan dishes. You’ll recognise many of Melanie’s offerings, from favourite pizzas to well known pasta dishes, but you’ll also be tempted to try the specialties of the house which include the typical ingredients of Naples and the surrounding countryside and have roots in the Greco-Roman period.

Friendly service and good Italian in the heart of Soho. We went for a family lunch before a West End show and throughly enjoyed our meal (though some Old Compton St shop windows opposite make for interesting conversation with children).

Melanie's Italian Restaurant, London is traditional with family values. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere friendly and warm. A good menu and plentiful portions, the service was swift, efficient and professional and we were all very well looked after from my 80 year old father to my 16 year old daughter. The food was of a good standard and value for money. I particularly noticed the pavement was scrubbed clean in front of the restaurant unlike its neighbours!

A very disappointing meal with our niece. The food was horrible to say the least. Probably the worst Italian meal we've had in London for the last 10 years. The garish decor didn't add any value and the slow service was painful - we had to keep on looking at our watches to make sure we didn't miss the matinee show, while we were waiting ages for the bill to arrive. We could not get out of there fast enough and shall not be returning.

Melanies Italian Rstaurant in Compton Street London W1 is very conveniently situated if you are going to the Palace Theatre. The food was very good, the service was prompt and the cost was acceptable, The tables are a bit close together but as we were there at 5pm that was not a problem. Only have 1 litre bottles of water so we asked for tap water which came without fuss. Nice atmosphere, clean and pleasant.
