Toptable says about Tom Aikens

toptable Dining Awards 2007 - Runner-up: Best Food category.

Smart, exclusive, and worth every penny - Tom Aikens fits Chelsea like a glove. This elegant Michelin-starred restaurant is a firm favourite with celebrities and well-heeled locals, but also offers an accessible lunch menu for those who enjoy a little part-time luxury. The sleek monochrome interior is effortlessly understated, but the menu is anything but. Only the finest ingredients are used in full-flavoured French dishes like foie gras terrine with Sauternes jelly; poached turbot with truffle gnocchi; and roast Anjou piegeon breast with confit leg and pumpkin risotto. For dessert, try the pistachio meringue or let the charming sommelier guide you through the wine list, which features excellent wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy as well as some interesting New World options.

As usual Tom Aikens did not disappoint, still the best value in London.

The £23 for two courses is great and you can skip desert as long as you have a coffee you'll get great petit fours, yummy.

Tom Aikens comes with a great reputation so had to be worth a try, given the 2 courses for £23 offer. The food was mostly excellent, although the jury is out about the appetiser that was delivered. The only issue for me was that the atmosphere was quite stiff and would have preferred something a bit buzzier. That was probably my own fault in venue selection.

Tom Aikens was a culinary delight. The salmon with sorrel and lemon grass was exquisite - probably one of the best fish dishes I have ever eaten. The pollock was cooked to perfection. I have never experienced such different combinations of taste in so many dishes. They all worked beautifully. I wasn't so keen on the dessert of rhubarb (which was too hard) with a covering of aspic/jelly and mint. Small quibble, the £17 house wine was not available, cheapest was £30. Petit fours were huge..

Tom Aikens - excellent meal, had the 4 course fish menu which was amazing, The amazing Petit Fours and the service were highlights, however the restaurant was very quiet for a Thursday lunch time which made the atmosphere a little too quiet for our liking

Tom Aiken's fish menu must be the best value dinner in town! Canapes, mackerel tartare, salmon and sorrel, red mullet and pistachio risotto, white chocolate and truffled ice cream and the coffee and petits fours were all unreservedly excellent, the first and last courses being exceptional. The breads, too, impressed in taste and texture. There was no reduction in the quality of all the ingredients or the precision of the cooking for the promotion. Service was attentive but unobtrusive.
