Terrace Bar and Food

About Terrace Bar and Food

Set on the Lyttleton side of the famous National Theatre, Terrace Bar and Food is a popular addition to the South Bank icon. With views over the Thames and a warehouse feel to the simple, modern décor the Terrace is a chic, urban hangout where young professionals and arty types come to enjoy a few drinks and nibbles before a show or just because. The concrete ceilinged dining room is always busy and buzzy but in the summer months the action moves out on to the terrace where the sun is soaked up and London views taken in. In addition to nibbles with a Middle Eastern flavour and a don’t-miss-it mezze board heartier meals can be enjoyed as a full dish or as smaller mezze portions.

First time at the Terrace Bar and Food - and will be using it often in the future. Great food - small, fresh plates which were great for sharing - in a relaxed atmosphere and with good service. Ideal for pre-theatre. It's slightly hidden away on a mezzanine floor -- well worth discovering. Especially recommend the baked cod. Some wonderful views of the Thames - and looks like there would be outside tables in the summer.

We ate in the National Theatre's Terrace Bar before seeing a play there. It was great for that and a pleasant enough venue. I imagine it could be really nice in summer (terrace overlooking the Thames). The food (we had veggie mezze) was good and the staff were attentive. Overall, good but not outstanding - perfect for a casual meal but I wouldn't choose it for special occasions.

Finding the Terrace Bar at the National Theatre was a little tricky but when we did it was worth the hunt! The ambience was great, very chilled and we were left in peace which was perfect. The food was tapas style with lots of different influences but everything we had was great. A lovely find.

We booked the Terrace Bar at the national as we were going to see a play and we did not want to go far from the theatre. We did not expect a Meze menu. However, the food was very good a service in good time even though the place was packed. We selected from the menu rather than have the reccommended meze meal which was good value at £20. Very enjoyable.
