Champagne Charlies
About Champagne Charlies
Hidden away under the arches of Charing Cross, Champagne Charlies wine bar and restaurant is an ideally located meeting place for Londoners on the move. Charmingly intimate, the surroundings are a fresh, welcome change from the faceless chain bars taking over the city, providing both a vibrant but cosy bar area and a slightly more formal restaurant space to choose from depending on your mood. Both feature exposed brick walls, wood panelling and dark, pared back furnishings, yet Champagne Charlies somehow still feels light and airy despite both this and its below stairs setting. As part of the Davy’s brand, a top notch wine merchants established in 1870 and as well respected now as it was then, Champagne Charlies of course offers guests an unbeatable selection of wines picked and tasted by a dedicated team of connoisseurs. The food menu meanwhile puts great emphasis on home grown British seasonal produce, the tasty dishes created to maximise the flavour of top-notch ingredients.

A great secret little venue
Champagne Charlies, Villiers Street. We had our table booked at 1830 so we were in good time for the pre-theatre offer but the staff delayed taking our order till after 7pm so we missed the offer. Saying that, we had a really nice time, it was quite busy in there, with a nice laid back & buzzy atmosphere. All 8 of us really enjoyed the food, it was really good.
Saw the reviews and thought it sounded good (especially for my meat-loving colleague). As mentioned the ambience is good and the service very nice. Location is also very handy. The food let it down however. Even though it wasn't a busy night, they were out of the dessert my colleague wanted, and my main course (pork), which was highly recommended by the server was definitely not great. This isn't one we'll be going back to.
Champagne Charlies, Charing Cross, London - We had a wonderful time here. The food was excellent and the ambience very good. We all had different staters - prawns, whitebait, scotch egg and salad, which were all very good (the scotch egg was warm with runny yolk!). We had lamb, steak and sausages for main course - all good, but the lamb especially. Desserts were good but not special. Would strongly recommend!
Awesome atmosphere in bar area. Had sandwiches for lunch which I thought were a little overpriced but they were lovely! Divine wine too. Have already booked to go back! Great little find!
