Saffron

About Saffron

Located on Brick Lane, Saffron is popular with a late night East End crowd. Open until 1am most evenings, this restaurant is always busy with an eclectic clientele and is famous for its delicious Indian and Bangladeshi curries. Smart and minimal, the dining room is decorated with lime green and burnt orange walls and wooden floorboards, and the restaurant is a fun place for people watching with a side order of poppadoms. Popular with hipsters, students and tourists alike, Saffron has become a Brick Lane dining institution, and classic dishes include the Lamb Passanda Nawabi cooked in a creamy sauce made with pistachio nuts; the Chicken Shatkora with Bangladeshi lemon; and the Tandoori King Prawn Balti.

Saffron Brick Lane Tried 2 vegetarian dishes on the menu. The size portions were ok and service was firendly. Not my taste of Indian food, though. Too sweet and creamy, but edible. The ingredients are not necessarily fresh, the spinach tasted to be cooked from frozen.

First rate food and attentive service in atmospheric Brick Lane. Good variety of dishes and original flavours, eg.g cheese nan.

Saffron in Brick Lane is a small restaurant with nice food and friendly staff. They were quite busy with TT offers and we had to wait a while for our food ... and bill, as I do not think they are used to coping with such high number of diners on a regular basis. However, food was freshly cooked and staff very polite and I would go back for a leisurely meal.

Enjoyed our meal at Saffron however we were offered contradictory deals on our meal, with the man outside being more generous than the manager inside. This led to us feeling slightly misled although the overall value was still reasonable. Food average for brick lane. Drinks expensive - circa £4.50 for a pint.
