Le Café Du Marché
About Le Café Du Marché
Hiding at the back of a cobbled mews in the heart of London’s Smithfield, Le Café du Marché is a picture perfect French restaurant that is adored by locals and Francophiles alike. With its whitewashed shopfront, bare brick walls, vintage piano, wicker seats and tables dressed with crisp white linens, candles and mini terra cotta pots of geraniums, this is one of our favourite French restaurants in the capital. The menu changes at Le Café du Marché every five weeks, but signature dishes, like the côte de boeuf with sauce béarnaise for two, are always available. Forty yards from Charterhouse Square, this is a discreet meeting place for long business lunches and romantic rendezvous. Popular with a handsome 30-something crowd, ladies who lunch and city suits who appreciate the intimate atmosphere and flawless food at Le Café du Marché, this bijou restaurant is one of London’s best kept secrets.

Excellent food and setting, a real gem in the city.
Delightful ambiance, an excellent menu.....and a very pleasant evening
We literally stumbled across Le Cafe du Marche in Charterhouse Square, took a look and decided to book for a couple of days later. I have to say, I found the place charming, the service attentive and the food solidly good. Proper, solidly good, French fare, well executed and the perfect quantity. Loved the live music and the general ambience. Not cheap but great for an 'occasion'...
My first visit to Le Cafe du Marche despite having worked in the area for years, largely due to its tucked away location. I certainly will be returning to this charming eatery. My soup starter was delicious and overall a very satisfying experience although other main courses looked superior to the seabass I choose which was nice but not spectacular.
Delightful evening. we arrived early after work. Received instant attention. Ordered a light supper. The food was excellent and wine was good. Most enjoyable.
