Simpsons Tavern

About Simpsons Tavern

Simpsons Tavern is one of three inns located amongst the charming alleyways at the centre of the City financial district, near the enchanting Tower Bridge. Built way back in 1757, the tavern retains much of its olde worlde charm, especially in its thoroughly British menu featuring potted shrimps in

butter to start, followed by oxtail stew, steak and kidney pie and, most vital of all, some good old-school spotted dick and custard. Naturally, it is almost always filled with City workers during the week fuelling their stomachs and mind for another round of money-making.

A really nice old fashioned place. Food is hearty and there is plenty of it - perhaps a bit too much, and staff are really friendly although it gets so busy at lunch time you feel slightly under pressure to move on ASAP.

Simpsons Tavern, Ball court, own forecourt/courtyard. Very quirky (inside and out) and interesting historical environment. Good value for an informal blow-out breakfast £8 ppincl. toast, tea or coffee latter a bit on thin side, but unlimited. Alternatives for lighter appetites very acceptable eg smoked salmon + scrambled eggs =£7.00, mushrooms on toast =£4. Great fun for friends, and good fun, with close colleagues, American visitors find it very interesting. Service informal and welcoming

Great place with a lively atmosphere and the best pub grub I have eaten for years. The food is traditional, freshly cooked and of a high standard. Prices very good too as was the service.
