This popular chain of French cafés – with their signature maroon and cream colour scheme and wicker furniture - has become as much a part of the British landscape as hedgerows and chippies. The retro-Parisian mise-en-scène, excellent selection of coffees and croissants and the cosy atmosphere make Café Rouge the perfect spot for perusing the morning papers, sneaky chocolat-chaud-and-cake dates and discreet working lunches. The Frenchified food and wine menus include everything from croques, Kir Royales and baguettes to steak frites, syrah and beef bourguignon, and we highly recommend the garlic and thyme infused half roast chicken served with French fries, watercress and beurre maison.

Enjoyed our visit to Cafe Rouge, Highgate - first visit to this branch. Able to park outside, which was good in a crowded area. Food & service were good, as in all Cafe Rouge, but the restaurants always appear a little cold.
My husband and I went to Cafe Rouge for my birthday, we had been a few times before. We had a lovely time. The service was friendly and the food was delicious.
the food was amazing but the service was so unfriendly and absent we were inclined to leg it ANYWHERE else for dessert. and we did.
We arrived earlier than expected but the table was reserved and waiting. They were aware of the booking and everything was so easy.
Lovely meal and great service and attention.To everyone though not just to us. Will return to the Cafe Rouge - Highgate again soon. It may help to ease the ladies toilet door though as it sticks and has no way to reopen easily. Not a complaint...Just an observation.
We changed the number of guests twice very close to the time we had booked the table for and it was no problem for them - the staff were polite and efficient and the service was excellent. We were 15 adults and 5 toddlers so this was no easy task.
The children were well catered for menu-wise and everybody in our party received exactly what they ordered.
We found Cafe Rouge to be great value for money and everyone had a lovely and relaxed lunch - our guests said they were very impressed.
