Toptable says about Cafe Rouge

Tucked away on Putney Bridge Road in south London, Café Rouge is a hit with the neighbourhood's francophilic foodies. This popular chain of French cafés – with their signature maroon and cream colour scheme and wicker furniture - has become as much a part of the British landscape as hedgerows and chippies. The retro-Parisian mise-en-scène, excellent selection of coffees and croissants and the cosy atmosphere make Café Rouge the perfect spot for perusing the morning papers, sneaky chocolat-chaud-and-cake dates and discreet working lunches. The Frenchified food and wine menus include everything from croques, Kir Royales and baguettes to steak frites, syrah and beef bourguignon, and we highly recommend the garlic and thyme infused half roast chicken served with French fries, watercress and beurre maison.

Food was delicious. Only one waiter was working as others had called in sick but the service was still very good. Would definitely go back again.

Cafe Rouge Putney - friendly manager who was unfortunately the only waiter for the whole evening. Sitting area was strangely cold - my partner & I weren't the only people to notice either! Portions were decent however not that great quality particularly the rib eye steak which at £14.95 one expected more really.

Cafe Rouge(Putney) remains a good value for money venue. Whilst not fine dining, the menu is varied. We had a basket of bread and olives, followed by Sirloin steak and pommes frites, topped off by tarte tatin and a warm chocolate pud. With 2 glasses of Merlot,a coffee and service the bill was £45.00 for 2.( Two for one offer)

Overall our meal at Cafe Rouge was enjoyable. The service was attentive (if anything a little too much so because of the lack of people in the restaurant) and the food was nice. However, I felt that the quiche lorraine was not any more superior than something you'd buy in a supermarket and for the second time in a row they added mustard to my boyfriend's meal after he'd requested his food without it. Overall though a well priced meal using a 2 for 1 voucher.
