Toptable says about Belvedere

Very pretty restaurant set in Holland Park, one of London's most attractive park areas. Since it's opening, Belvedere has been popular with both locals and outsiders from other areas of London. The Belvedere is particularly popular for Sunday lunch - possibly because with all that greenery you can kid yourself that you've escaped from the wicked City. A complete 'makeover' in April 2000 updated the decor and the cuisine. What's cooking: Parfait of foie gras en gelée, toasted poilâne; Confit of salmon, cauliflower cream Maison Prunier to start, and for mains - Daube of Aberdeen Angus à l'ancienne pomme purée, garnish provençale; Grilled tuna with aubergine caviar sauce vierge au basilic or perhaps Poulet noir with morilles, sauce Albufeira.

In terms of location, Marco Pierre Whites The Belvedere has the edge on just about all of Londons eateries. Set in a corner of Holland Park and with its bright, spacious interior, its very country house. Its just its a country house about ten minutes from the tube. It is, in short, very classy, as is the food. The set lunch is particularly good value at £22.50 but a la carte is not the walletclutching experience you might expect either. Things are a little meatheavy as you might expect given the MPW connection. The companions Confit of lamb burst with intense lamby flavours while the Roast venison, cabbage, sauce grand veneur was great: Marco doesnt cook these days but he does shoot. Good wine list too although its admittedly pitched around the £25 minimum level. Desserts were a contrast of the relatively simple Strawberries and cream and the more technical Raspberry Soufflé. Both were nigh faultless although, as the waiter put it: strawberries are good but soufflé is soufflé… Very fine dining indeed.

We dined at the Belvedere on Sunday for lunch. The menu of three courses for 24.95 was excllent value and there was a lots of choice. The eggs benedict were fab! Reasonable price wine was available. The ambience was something else, so light and airy and the piano tinkling away was lovely. The tables spaced so you were not disturbed by other diners. My only mild critcism was that everything came quite fast & i wanted to loll around soaking up the atmos! i had a great time.

Belvedere, Holland Park

Went there for Sunday lunch with my partner for my birthday. Lovely settings within Holland Park. Staff were attentive throughout. The food was a bit mixed. My starter was pretty tasty but my partner's wasn't. My roast pork was mediocre but the roast beef was declared very good. The sauce that came with the pear tart was extremely sweet. We ordered coffee and was expecting to be topped up when finished but wasn't offered any.

I went to the Belvedere for a Valentines Day meal. It was a set menue of 5 courses and I found the quality of the food to range from extremely nice to utterly fantastic The Sea Bass especially was perfect. Service was good although it did seem a bit difficult to get the attention of the waiters on occasion. The restaurant setting on the edge of Holland Park is lovely but don't attempt to get their via pubic transport, as it's a fair walk from any tube station.

The Sunday lunch £24.50 three course menu was a great choice for a relaxed, semi-formal meal. Bright space with a view of tress and park outside. Busy but respectful crowd - no loud groups or screaming children here. Food good quality and reliable. Definitely plan to go back.
