Toptable says about Cantina del Ponte

London's Cantina del Ponte restaurant subscribes to the three R's that make Italian food great: rustic, robust, and reasonably priced. Located on the Thames with great views of Tower Bridge from its riverside terrace, Cantina del Ponte might just transport you from grey old Blighty to a trattoria in Italy. Try the beef carpaccio with rocket and capers, the roast fillet of pork with creamy polenta and pickled wild mushrooms, or the cod with Sardinian couscous. Main courses also include pasta dishes such seafood linguine and pappardelle with wild boar ragout.

Very good service, despite being extremely busy - presumbly because of Mother's Day. Limited special menu, but my fish was well cooked, as was my daughter's pork loin dish. Her pudding disappointing though, as it tasted grainy and dry - a chocolate polenta cake (not plain chocolate cake as on the menu). Surprised there were no potatoes available - not everyone is into pulses ! Few wines by glass and no half bottles,

But restaurant had superb view. and was reasonably good value overall.

I was disappointed with Cantina del Ponte. The food was good but overpriced, the service was ok but the upselling got to me - trying to push additional drinks and side orders on us. Left feeling average.

Think that our group (of 4) may have been a little roudy for a Monday night in Cantina del Ponte! However, we had a great night, the food was delicious and good value on the top table offer.
