Toptable says about Apsleys at The Lanesborough

toptable Dining Awards 2009 - Runner Up: Best for Romance. At London's luxury Lanesborough Hotel dinner isn't just dining, it's a culinary experience. The latest addition to the family, Apsleys, lives up to the hype with its glamorous take on Italian food, a cuisine so often neglected in fine dining circles. You won't find clichéd chequered tablecloths and waiters flourishing comedy pepper grinders here. At Apsleys the emphasis is on subtle luxury with a glass roof offering soaring views and a Venetian inspired interior complete with contemporary chandeliers and plushly upholstered sofas. The menu uses seasonal ingredients, many imported directly from Italy, to create traditionally inspired dishes such as a mouthwatering rabbit cacciatora or lamb cutlets served with caponata.

Stunning venue. Had champagne in the library at £15 a glass though we got 3 amouse bouches & tasty nibbles. Dinner didn't wow. Nice bread. Bresaola was lovely & my octopus carpaccio was much better eaten same mouthful as the nice salad. Lamb was chewy & the lentils & veg lacked flavour. Quite mushy. My chocolate orange cake was actually a mousse (which I hate) & was really awful. Pineapple mousse ironically was beautiful as was its divine caramel ice cream. Fab service. Ok offer, food average

Apsleys is a very nice venue but the food was a bit too small portioned with the toptable offer and the service was slow , too much wait between the dish !

If you're looking to dine somewhere with a bit of 'wow' factor and old school splendour, then Apsely's is the place. The service is impeccable, and the ambience at dinner is lovely. Our mackerel main dish was sweet and savoury, a perfect spring dish. Coffee is served with scrumptious petit fours so relax and savour the setting with one at the end of your meal. Highly reccommend.

7.30pm Saturday booking on the top table deal. Restuarnat was full, but not noisey, good background music, polite+ attentive staff made for a great evening. Food can't compare to Artisan, but was still very nice, clean simple flavours in octopus starter, nice lamb main ( maybe a little chewy) Top chocolate cake dessert, rich moist & nice orange tange to compliment. Lansbourgh hotel VERY nice. Will definately be going back A*

Simply lovely restaurant and had a very regal feel. I took my parents and partner our for dinner. The venue was very beautiful. The food was good, although the portions were a little too small and we left feeling hungry.
