Galvin Bistrot de Luxe
About Galvin Bistrot de Luxe
Marylebone restaurant Galvin Bistrot de Luxe was the first in the hugely successful Galvin stable, and the first to win the Galvin brothers their reputation of outdoing the French at classic bistro cooking. Critics and customers consistently rate the top quality French cuisine and affordable prices - the prixe fixe menus represent particularly good value, especially for this chichi area of London. Chef patron Chris Galvin and head chef Luigi Vespero have created an appealing seasonal menu with plenty of French bistro classics and, along with efficient and professional bow-tied staff, have created a very reliable dining destination you’ll be coming back to again and again. Décor at Galvin Bistrot de Luxe is elegant and pared back – leather banquettes and mahogany panelling line the walls and the atmosphere is always bustling – perfect for enjoying full-flavoured French dishes like crab lasagne, garlicky snails, wonderfully soft braised pork cheeks, and crème brulée served with rhubarb compote.

We visited Galvin bistro. There were a few disappointments. Firstly, my wife and I both ordered a soup and the waiter got them the wrong way around so we both started eating the other's. The menu prix fixe alsoonly had two choices for each course which is just too narrow. Thirdly, I was given a menu on which there was a lamb dish. When it came, i was given pigeon because the menu they gave me the wrong menu. Service was a bit too hovering. But Galvin food is great. La Chappelle is a must.
Went last night with my wife to Galvin for our monthly date : ) The service was impeccable and the food delicious. The place really makes you feel special with the staff attentive to every detail. Will definitely go back on the first possible occasion.
Food very good but service a bit slow
all round excellent French food !
We actually were not offered the deal that we had booked - but the regular a la carte pricing seemed to work out about the same price. Nice relaxed ambience with efficient service. Interesting items on menu - some may be too gruesome for the faint of heart - crispy pig's head? Calf's brains? Generally though traditional French brasserie classics cooked to a high standard. The creme brulee (always a good test of an establishment) passed the test - but was a little too cold.
