L' Albufera

About L' Albufera

L' Albufera is one of two respected restaurants at the 581-room four star deluxe Meliá White House on a corner of Regent’s Park. Taking pride in its role as the flagship dining room of the Spanish-owned hotel, the formal setting features large, well-spaced tables and generously-proportioned armchairs creating a very comfortable environment. A distinctively Spanish menu is evenly split into tempting sections of tapas – such as pan-seared foie gras with toasted thyme brioche – salads, fish and seafood, meat and rice dishes. Pick of the bunch is the paellas - said to be amongst the best in London. Choose from house paella with lobster and squid, vegetarian (cooked with organic rice), Spanish creamy rice, and even noodle paellas.

L'Albufera, London Starters of croquettes and prawns/mushrooms were good; vegetarian paella was too salty for my guest to eat; my belly pork was okay but not fantastic; dessert of poached pear was not great and the cheese board offering a bit disappointing. On the plus side, the cava was a generous glass and very nice!

Went on Saturday night. Initially worried that the restaurant would be quite, as in a hotel, but were plensantly surprised with the ambienece, 5-6 other tables and live Guitarist. The food and wine were fantastic, in particular the tapas plates (as a shared starter) and lobster paella, supported by excellent wines. Though a great night, the restaurant was let down by the speed and quality of service: very slow to offer a first drink or to take our order. It did improve but the food saved them!

Very friendly and attentive staff. They were very knowledgeable regarding wines and made a great recommendation based on the type of wine we wanted to drink (and they simply did not choose the some expensive wines on the list, in fact it was one of the cheapest!). The restaurant was really quiet, although it was a Wednesday night. Food was delicious and fresh. I ordered the steak and requested it be cooked medium, it was almost a little over cooked.

L'aubufera in London was very reasonable with the toptable deal, although service was a bit slow at times. Some of the food tends to come very rare so if you're not sure check before hand.
