La Cave Restaurant

About La Cave Restaurant

The romantic La Cave Restaurant Wine Bar is nestled away on a cobbled alleyway where it boasts views of historic Southwark Cathedral. An authentic slice of France, La Cave is where French ex-pats, City execs and loved up couples enjoy the extensive and good value wine list, covering fine examples of classic and lesser known grapes, in the large wine bar before moving on to the restaurant which offers a rustic yet elegant cuisine. In the summer months, why not enjoy a chilled glass of white while sharing a lush platter of cheese and cured meats or delicate hot bites on the terrace patio, stretching the width of the picturesque cathedral gardens.

La Cave is tucked away beside Southwark cathedral under London Bridge. We were welcomed warmly to lunch. The two course fixed menu offers a very good choice at excellent value. Service was perhaps a little too prompt, but friendly. Both the salad starter and salmon main course were delicious.

Went to La Cave Restaurant on a cold Tuesday lunchtime. It was pleasantly busy but not overcrowded. The staff were attentive but not intrusive and the food was very good value. I had a starter of goats cheese salad which was a bit odd - two balls with melted cheese in - but it tasted OK. The next course was salmon with roasted vegetables which was very tasty - the salmon was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were delicious.

Had a wonderful meal at La Cave by London Bridge Station. it's a lovely, cosy little place, with friendly staff and fine food. The service was excellent and although the set menu was limited in choice, the food was great. The starters of chicken liver parfait and Caesar salad were a hit, and the mains of steak, mushroom risotto and chicken also went down well. It was a great choice for lunch with friends in a restaurant with proper table linen and great acoustics - both rare things nowadays!
