Al Sultan
About Al Sultan
Just off Shepherd's Market, Al Sultan is a small, beautifully run Lebanese that has attracted couples and families for absolute yonks. The Middle Eastern restaurant traditions, white linen, flowers, mirrors and snappy service are all in evidence here, but even if Al Sultan weren't quite so
inviting the food would still win a loyal following. Our absolute favourite thing to do is bring half a dozen friends and order every starter we can lay our hands on. Let the feast begin. Hummus shawarma with lamb and pine nuts is great, so are the falafel, and kallaje, the kibbeh, and fattouch and the moutabal, but those who know say the tabouleh is truly great. The wine list is an absolute winner, too.

Excellent attentive service that wasnt overbearing, with a simple, well presented meal. Food is well cooked and portioned. The restaurant itself was quite nice, very quite on a Sunday night but we still felt comfortable being one of the three tables in the place. A slightly limited menu, but it seems getting a selecion of starters as the main to share is the best approach. We had the chicken livers with lemon and tabouleh both of which were fantastic.
Entering Al Sultan in Mayfair's Shepherds market is like a step in to another continent. We dined on a mix of Mezze dishes, all freshly prepared and delicious accompanied by the usual fresh salad and bread. Service was attentive and although the bright lights didn't assist the ambience this is clearly a popular local family restaurant.
Al Sultan London provided a delicious eating experience. We shared all the dishes which was loads of fun. The service was a little chaotic but as we had plenty of time we didn't mind.
Al Sultan in London was an average experience. Having flagged down service, we ordered from the extremely vast menu. A starter of grilled halloumi cheese was a winner, served with piping hot bread fresh out of the oven. Sadly, the grilled fillet of lamb with lemon sauce came with no sauce to speak of, but with perfectly cut chips deep fried straight from a bag. Lebanese rice was dry and seriously lacked salt. Desserts were a welcome surprise on the house, mint tea delicious. Work in progress!
Fantastic food, top 5 Lebanesr in London. The service was a bit souless.
