Gatti's

About Gatti's

Gatti's restaurant in the City of London near Liverpool Street Station on Whitecross Place offers both big city sophistication and delicious Italian cooking like mama used to make, all in one sleek package. The plush dining room has loads of personality but with a discreet, masculine air and every bit of white table linen, smart silver and crystal that proper service demands. At lunchtimes the tables are crowded with high-flyers and you get the feeling that big deals are being done. In the evening, Gatti's relaxes into a more intimate ambience, though the service is just as sprightly. Gatti's prides itself on the high quality of its Italian cuisine based on favourite Italian kitchen dishes plus some more upscale offerings, like calves liver cooked in butter and sage or chateaubriand for two with béarnaise sauce. Personal relations with vintners ensure that Gatti's wines make an intriguing, international list.

Gatti's Italian, Finsbury avenue in the City. Incredibly quiet for a Thursday night in the City, but food was excellent. Service was top rate, wonderfully warm, attentive waiter, there when we needed him and unobtrusive when we wanted privacy. His recommendations for dessert were very good. 3 course meal with fresh mint tea and treats with water and service came to about £40 per head. I would have liked slightly bigger portions for the main course but the options of side dishes fix that.

Gatti's was very good. The food was excellent, the staff experienced and courteous and it didn't have that bustling noisy quality that all restaurants seem to try and aim at nowadays. Definately go again and certainly recommend.

As Gatti's Finsbury Sq is under my building we often walk passed it without thinking about eating here. The food is always good, consistent and quite quick but not rushed. I do like it here and even though it is on a corner with lots of glass people can't really see in so there is privacy. I always recommend Gatti's Finsbury Sq to colleagues.
