Zafferano
About Zafferano
Since opening in Belgravia in 1995, Zafferano has become one of London’s most popular and highly regarded Italian restaurants. The interior combines rustic exposed brickwork with stylish contemporary furniture to create a relaxed setting for low-key lunches and romantic dinners. And it seems that all of Knightsbridge, Belgravia and high-end London finds its way here for lunch and supper. Chef Andrew Needham is passionate about honest, wholesome Italian cuisine presented with flair but without fuss, allowing the flavours to speak for themselves. Zafferano’s menu includes dishes like pan-fried scallops with saffron vinaigrette; linguine with lobster and fresh tomato; and fillet of beef with celeriac, leeks and red wine sauce. When they are in season, autumnal truffles appear on a dedicated tasting menu – perfect for special occasions. Zafferano restaurant’s wine list includes an excellent Tuscan section and the bar serves a wide range of cocktails and aperitifs.

Italian food is usually rustic and unpretentious. Zafferano manages to raise the food to haute cuisine without quite becoming pretentious. Excellent starter of bresaola with rocket and the lightest hint of goat's cheese. Primo piatto of papardelle with beef cheeks was a highlight, really excellent. Secondo piatto of venison was beautifully cooked, as you would hope. All around an excellent evening.
Best Italian restaurant in mayfair!
Zafferano is by far the best italian in London! Stunning!!!
We had lunch two courses lunch menu. It has only two options for antipasti and main. Onion soup I order for antipasti was very delicious and tasty. Service was good over all, although it was a bit disappointing that they opened the second water bottle without asking us. You will be satisfied with the volume of two courses lunch.
We had a great time at Zafferano. The food was excellent, and they were able to make a gluten-free version of one of the pastas for us, which is unusual and much appreciated. When we needed to pay and leave they were a little slow with the bill and the card transactions, but other than that we have no complaints. We definitely plan on returning.
