Al Waha

About Al Waha

For those who don’t know, Al Waha translates simply as ‘oasis’. And that’s exactly what this fine Middle Eastern restaurant is to many Londoners who return time and time again to sample the welcoming atmosphere and tempting mezze style food. Situated on Westbourne Grove in ever-trendy Notting Hill, Al Waha is unassumingly simple in décor, remaining classic in simple white and earth tones while other restaurants around it succumb to passing fads. Art works reflect the establishment’s Eastern background while abundant greenery surrounds the always busy tables. Pick a selection of dishes from the comprehensive Lebanese menu to share with your fellow guests or (if you’re feeling selfish) to enjoy all to yourself. Particularly recommended are the delicious kebabs straight from the chargrill.

Best Middle Eastern in a long time. Everything every fresh, well seasoned, perfectly cooked.

I went here for a midweek meal with two friends. We were squeezed into an awkward corner despite the restaurant being half empty. The waiter acted as though we were an inconvenience because we asked for a few more minutes to choose from the menu. You'd think that their card machine not working would mean their attitude was a bit more friendly. Having said that the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered lots of small dishes as we were all vegetarian and there was lots to choose from. I'm not sure if i would visit this place again.

The food at Al Waha is good: simple but tasty & well prepared (although the baklava was dry). The staff are friendly & attentive. However, the restaurant is overpriced (£25pp for a small starter, main & beer) and the place is in need of modernisation from its current 1990’s feel. It seems the owners are resting on their laurels, using good reviews & recommendations as an excuse for inflated prices in an outdated restaurant. Green Lanes in Haringey is better for Middle Eastern food in London.

Food was delicious. Anything with aubergine or lamb was great. We had a early table so service was more than attentive. As the restaurant filled up (gets busy so you need to book) ambience was nice. Only gripe are that the loos were directly opposite the kitchen downstairs so if either main toilet entrance door (ladies or gents) was not pulled shut by a customer it could be a bit unhygenic airflow wise.

Second time here and fantastic food once again with lovely service. We ordered the set menu for £25 which had a great selection of starters, breads & salad then we were able to choose our own main grill. SO MUCH FOOD I had to take a doggy bag home - which meant I got delicious food for lunch the next day too :) No TT offers and meals are a little on the pricey side if ordering a la carte, but the great food is worth it. Will be going back for sure.
