The Athenaeum
About The Athenaeum
Dining at The Athenaeum restaurant in London's Mayfair is a glamorous experience. Found within the high class hotel of the same name in Piccadilly opposite Green Park, The Athenaeum is luxuriously appointed and offers wonderfully efficient service and a menu guaranteed to make you sigh in delight. Decorated in tactile velvets in sumptuous muted antique golds and pinks, deep reds and the blackest blacks, The Athenaeum recalls the dazzling deco days of the 1930s when London's restaurants were awash with sparkling society ladies and witty, highly-groomed gentlemen. The modern European food, like the surroundings, is totally seductive. Contemporary reworkings of British classic dishes like braised venison shoulder and pan-fried Dover sole are created with the closest attention to detail and the best ingredients from throughout the UK. Dine in decadence from breakfast until late, including one of the best afternoon teas in London.

Set dinner for two was v well presented tasty and service excellent. Both had mackerel followed by pork loin for main. Cheeseboard was varied and well presented. Would dine there again without hesitation. Bill was £99 for 3 courses including bottle of red. Marvelous.
We used the 2 courses for £15 offer for a Sat lunch. It's an amazing value offer. The food is fantastic. Veggie options are always limited in set menus - and the gnocchi with tomato sauce that I had wasn't necessarily impressive. But the starters were fab. My partner had fish - which was quite good as well. The service and decor were impeccable. Would definitely go again - especially if the offer continues!
We all had a lovely meal. The service, food & price were all first class. Lovely bar/lounge for a drink. Will be attending again VERY shortly!
My sister & I had an amazing morning at the RA Hockney exhibition, followed by an easy stroll down Piccadilly to The Athenaeum. As stylish & charming as ever - staff could not have been more attentive & even though lunch was a Toptable offer, it was of an extremely high standard. We had been talking earlier to one of the waiting staff & my sister mentioned that it was my birthday. At the end of the meal a small cake with a candle & happy birthday written around it in jus arrived - lovely touch.
My friend & I booked the Athenaeum for 2 course lunch offer after reading the good reviews. Have to say it lived up to expectations. We both started with goats cheese - which with the basket of bread was almost a meal on it's own. For mains - I had seabream & my friend the rib. Both courses - lovely presentation and great food. One of the best pieces of fish I've had. Free water & coffee plus a very rich truffle - all good value. Cost of the wine only downside. Would go again definitely
