Toptable says about Caffe Caldesi
The smart-casual, or just plain casual if you prefer, sister of the starchier Caldesi in Marylebone, Caffe Caldesi is a friendly stop at any time of day. The decor is modern Tuscan and the menu a palate-thrilling selection of regional Italian dishes prepared from the freshest ingredients and beautifully complemented by the Italian wines. Try starter of roasted aubergine and onion with buffalo mozzarella and pine nuts, followed by pan-fried monkfish with pureed winter vegetable sauce and broccoli. The terminally lazy or those hard pushed for time will be pleased to know that Caffe Caldesi will also prepare food (in your own dishes if you like) for you to collect and eat at home. As for service, well, the Italian waiters are very nice indeed.

We went to Caffe Caldesi on a Friday for 7.30pm. It had a good, lively atmosphere. The service was very friendly but we did have to wave to have someone take our order and then payment but as soon as we caught their eye they were over immediately. We shared the Tagliere (meat, cheese, grilled veg platter) which was really good. I had Rigatoni with Ragu & my partner a Vegetarian Linguini dish. Both excellent. With a bottle of wine the bill came to £30 per head which I thought was good value.
the meal at Caffe Caldesi was excellent as always
Understated, consistently good quality food and friendly discreet service. What more would you want from a neighbourhood Italian restaurant? Great for both family and business entertaining at sensible prices in these difficult times!
Cafe Caldesi is easily my fav. italian rest. in London. AMAZING ragu and cheap!!! sicilian seafood pasta also amazed my partner. Entree, main, cocktails, coffee + H20=£35 ea. great service, friendly, attending and not too stiff like other places. Their wine list is extensive. I prefer eating in the bar which is slightly more informal than upstairs. Everyone should go its a great authentic experience from the famous italian cooks. Just bought the cookbooks too its that great A+++++++++++++++++
Service was friendly but not particularly attentive even though the restaurant was half-empty--we had to ask repeatedly for more water and we re-filled our own wine glasses--not what you expect at this price level (plus automatic 12.5% service is added to the bill). Food was good but not great-- so we won't be rushing back.
