The Heights
About The Heights
If you’ve ever wondered where BBC staff drink in London, here’s your answer, 15 storeys above the West End fray. Not only is it peaceful up here, but the views from the floor-to-ceiling windows are amazing. The sun setting over the capital never fails to impress. The airy deconstructed restaurant serves modern European and international dishes such as rack of lamb with mashed potato and red wine sauce, as well as several light dishes like chicken Caesar salad, and the best-selling scrambled egg foccacia with smoked salmon. Open for breakfast, lunch and a la carte dinner.

I was looking forward to eating at The Heights, given some of the reviews and the pictures I had seen of the views over London. The decor feels a bit dated and reminded me of a Virgin Atlantic airport waiting room, but you soon forget this as you look out at London below. The service was great, staff were polite and attentive. For the price, the food was not as good as I was expecting, and it was distinctly average: there are a lot better menus out there, for a lot cheaper.
Pleasant small working lunch enhanced by the great views. Waitress very apologetic to spill drinks over me but will undoubtedly become more adept with practice. It would have been good for management to have checked if my suit needed cleaning. I returned with a larger party for pre-dinner drinks later the same day and the service was excellent. My guests were equally impressed by the night-time skyline from the 15th floor.
Had a distinctly average meal at the Saint George Hotel, London last night. The waiting staff were friendly but the lamb main course was tough, fatty and chewy and the potato dauphinoise was undercooked and dry. On the up side, the wine was fabulous... but then, the restaurant has no real control over that so it's not really a point in their favour! My friend's duck breast was also tough and chewy. Not impressed. At all.
Totally recommend!
attentive staff, great views and a varied menu
