Liberty Kebabish Restaurant

About Liberty Kebabish Restaurant

The Liberty Kebabish Restaurant in London’s Kentish Town has a history almost as rich as the cuisine it serves. Named after the first Kebabish restaurant, opened in the 1970s in the Liberty Market in Lahore, this local institution first found popularity in 1987, serving hungry London diners as the Indian Lancer until 2011 when it changed its name, but not its dedication to quality, authentic Indian food. Based around the cuisine of the Punjab and Lahore, Liberty Kebabish Restaurant’s kitchen uses all Halal ingredients in their cookery, sources traditional herbs and spices and follows authentic recipes to provide guests with what they consider to be the ‘real’ food of India. Smartly decked out in black and white with high backed seating and crisp white tablecloths, Liberty Kebabish provides a setting as conducive to romance as to business or relaxing with friends, accompanied by good food and a decent wine list at locally competitive prices.

Great local curry house with welcoming staff

I have to give this restaurant a 10 just for the food. This is the best Indian cuisine I have ever had in London. All the meat was fresh, tender and packed with flavour. I asked for extra curry saucy and it had vegetables and extra spices added in for a fantastic taste. There was more food than I could eat, but I took the rest with me for later!. I loved every bite. The family who own it make you feel welcome and make wonderful food. Fantastic! They have been here 30 years and I will be back !

Really great. I'm often fussy about Pakistani and Northern Indian food being either too spicy or too mild, but these guys have it nailed. Only let down was my garlic Nan. Other 3 in the group loved it as well (and they're fastidious foody Italians!). Decor isn't great but food is.

I love the food here. This was the second time I was greeted like family, had the best mixed grill I have ever had in London (again) and enjoyed my dinning experience. Peaceful, relaxed and just great quality and awesome tasting food. They spice everything to perfection including the curry sauce. Portions are so big I keep having to take some of my meal with me. Fantastic again.
