North Road
About North Road
A Scandinavian influence is the order of the day at in North Road restaurant; the food is best described as modern European, with strong Nordic influences courtesy of owner and head chef, Danish born Christoffer Hruskova. The décor, too, features clean lines and handmade oak chairs. The name is a nod to the restaurant's location, based in London's Clerkenwell. This was the starting point for the pre-Roman Great North Road, which linked the English capital with the Scottish one, and also refers to Hruskova's Danish heritage. Years of experience cooking in top-rated kitchens in Copenhagen, Sydney, San Francisco and, more recently, Islington have made Hruskova what he is today, however the menu reflects his true passion: clean, simple Scandinavian flavours made with the freshest local produce. Comparisons to that other famous Danish chef, René Redzepi of Noma, aren't too far off the mark; specialities include dishes like Norfolk deer loin with beetroot, burnt hay and smoked bone marrow.

Fantastic experience at North Road. We had the Tasting Menu with the selected wine to accompany each course. So much going on in textures and tastes. Fairly quiet for a Sat night but service was great. Only disappointment was falling for the waiter's proposal of taking the house champagne cocktail as we sat down at the table. £14 each was a rip-off for what was just a Bellini. Otherwise was a very good experience, very deserving of its Michelin Star and would definitely recommend to foodies.
A booked a business lunch for colleagues, who loved North Road. Fantastic experimental "Heston"esque food and delightful service, with a great set-priced menu.
We had a lunch - three girls, at North Road. All of their dishes were good and very well presented. We especially liked the apple dessert :) A nice restaurant with a little surprise.
North Road was superb! Very good value for the food and atmosphere
North Road, in Farringdon, London, is an experience to be had. We start off with a fantastic, salty, crispy trio of amuse-bouche. Bread follows, a warm, rustic bag of malt and spelt bread with brown butter. This is the evening's only flaw - I'm not sure the bread was baked on the day. Ox cheeks melt in your mouth, and wood pigeon with hay and "soil" is fantastically rich and bold, although the soil is basically crumbs. Dessert is salted caramel and ollebrod with tangy apple mousse, perfection.
