The Clifton

About The Clifton

For a long time one of London’s best kept secrets, The Clifton is a historic pub and restaurant tucked away in a leafy St Johns Wood street, just behind the famed Abbey Road. Given a modern makeover using reclaimed materials, many of them originally used in the pub itself and now with a new lease of life, The Clifton maintains the same charm and atmosphere that it had in the days of King Edward VII and Lillie Langtry (who would secretly meet here), but with a clean, airy feel suited to the modern day diner or drinker. A full world tour comes courtesy of The Clifton’s drinks list with beers and ciders from far flung spots such as Mexico, Sweden and Italy as well as hyper-local London sups, while on the food menu pub classics are combined with stylishly sophisticated restaurant dishes and light bite style snacks to be enjoyed in the pub, on the pavement terrace or out in the lovely garden.

Very kid friendly. Ordered from the set menu, good value. Will probably go back for their Monday steak night special.

Great haunt for a lazy afternoon / evening. Nice staff. Cosy atmosphere. Wine list is surprisingly good. Food is a bit on teh pricey side but tastes good, although desserts are a bit hit and miss.

The Clifton is a lovely local pub/restaurant in St Johns Wood. I've been going there off and on for years, and it's latest incarnation/refurb has definitely made a positive difference. Great place to grab a casual pint and wonderful good from a simple menu that goes just past pub food. I'll go back again and again!
