Clissold Arms
About Clissold Arms
The Clissold Arms restaurant and pub in Muswell Hill, London, is one of North London’s favourite gastropubs. With a bit of history behind it – this is the spot where The Kinks performed their first gig – The Clissold Arms in now firmly in the 21st century. The well-appointed dining rooms are light and neutral in the contemporary style with comfortable seating, squashy leather sofas in the bar, lovely wooden panelling. Besides the bar and main dining room, there is a huge and stunning terrace area with umbrellas and a great buzz as well as an ‘indoor terrace’ hung with twinkling lights, lined with bamboo screens and set to remind you of the lovely outdoors even when it’s just too dreary out there. The modern British menu with its classic French techniques and fresh innovative touches is under the very capable direction of Reuben Gould who uses seasonal, local ingredients complemented by an extensive global wine list.

The Clissold Arms is now open for breakfast! Great service, lovely atmosphere. They are so good at the small touches - big screen with a DVD on for the kids and free Easter eggs too... The quality of the food was good, although portion size was a little small and all a bit cold. You know we'll back despite the imperfections.
Clissold Arms has been a favourite local place for some time. The emphasis in the menu seems to have changed from slightly more complex restaurant type dishes to gastropub grills, but it's still good and if anything seems even more popular on a Saturday night. We enjoyed our dinner and had a great evening.
Another great night at The Clissold Arms. The atmosphere and service did not disappoint but the food was not the best. I've eaten here on many occasions and tend to find I either really like or really dislike the food! I had the poached salmon niscoise which was bland and the salmon very undercooked, there was too much rocket, and the dressing did not stand up to the dish....
Surprisingly busy for a Monday, so quite nicely busy, starters were bland all round but mains were very good indeed. Pricey wine list. In conclusion an expensive week night destination.
went to the Clissold Arms for dinner with friends on Friday evening and it was fabulous!.. from being greeted to leaving the whole experience was a real, rare treat.. the food was excellent, the service immpecable ..and a great selection of wines and beers.. ( and the desserts looked to good to resist so we didn't)...a highly recommended Gastro Pub venue from me...
