The Alice house in Queens Park was very nice. Friendly service and wonderful home cooked food, a real gastro pub!
Alice House (Queens Park) - a great-looking trendy place that's also very busy (as expected). Were taken to a table in a dark corner a little out of the way of everyone which wasn't too bad but it did seem like we would get forgotten quite quickly (which WAS the case). The table was huge and it seemed like we were somewhat of an afterthought. When the food and drinks finally did arrive we were pleasantly surprised - tasty and good portions. Would go again but just for drinks or as a larger group
We went for sunday lunch as a group of 4. Food was good but very slow service and small portions. We were even told that we couldnt order any food for about half an hour. We assume the kitchen was overwhelmed, but the place was less than half occupied. Service was friendly but a bit lazy and not much attention to customers (but probably what is expected from a pub). Ambience was great apart from the masses of young parents and babies.
While the service was almost humorously bad, the food and wine were excellent, and the live music and general ambience very convivial indeed. And even though the staff were feckless and clumsy, they were at least friendly.
The Alice house in London was a great night out. Not really for the food which was a little cold and not too exciting though since we had turned up half an hour late and I believe the kitchen was closing it would be wrong to be too critical. The good time relates to the bar and the DJ both were superb. Cocktails and discs very well mixed. We will be back but maybe just to party.
