Elephant Royale

About Elephant Royale

Elephant Royale restaurant in London's Lockes Wharf in the Isle of Dogs attracts a loyal crowd of Wharf working folk, locals and diners who appreciate terrific Thai cuisine and a great location. In the summer, the sprawling decked terrace is packed with people just enjoying a beer or cocktail while they gaze at the view of the River Thames and of Greenwich beyond. Inside the Elephant Royale, the effort that’s clearly gone into conjuring an exotic atmosphere succeeds. There’s great charm to the tropical plants and flowers, carvings, and the fish-filled stream that runs the length of the restaurant. Dressed in the Thai national costume, waiting staff are authentically keen and polite. A long and tempting menu lists Elephant Royale's tastiest Thai classics - tom yum soup, spicy salads, red and green curries, rice and noodle dishes - all beautifully garnished. Top marks for Elephant Royale.

This restaurant rarely fails to please, largely down to the wonderful royal Thai decor, and fabulous location (overlooking the river). The grand piano by the bar with a live singer also keeps me loyal to this place! Perhaps my favourite thing about this restaurant is it's handy car park, which makes it fuss free to get to! As for the food, I highly recommend the prawn tempura starter, truly delicious. Cocktails here are also very good...As for mains, I rarely go for anything other than Thai green curry which is good. In summary, good food, fabulous location, and wonderful decor.

Very lively with piano playing and singing. Food is good but quite expensive.

Prices are on the higher end considering that the location is not in central london. Prawn in Tom Yum Soup is big but not fresh.Curries dishes, papaya salad, garlic pork quite tasty.

Slightly disappointing, we have had the Sunday buffet previously which was much better. Starters were not hot as the containers were left open by customers. Mains better, but as we were taking friends for their first experience not their best. Much prefer the evening menu but still good value for money.

Elephant Royale, Isle of Dogs, Docklands Fantastic Banquet, service impeccable, food wonderful, cocktails yummy, atmosphere excellent, live music and beautiful surroundings. Stunning views of the River Thames and the riverboats going past in the dark. A superb venue. Our friends from Yorkshire were delighted .
