Historic Highgate has some great pubs, the most famous of which is The Flask. Dating back to the 18th century, The Flask has everything you expect from an ancient boozer - wood panelling, small interconnecting rooms and sloped ceilings. Legend has it that the highwayman Dick Turpin avoided capture by hiding in the pub's cellars. The beer garden makes a fabulous retreat on a sunny day.
