Toptable says about Gaucho - Hampstead

As you would expect, the emphasis at This Gaucho Restaurant is very much on red meat. Take in the aroma from the huge barbecue and transport yourself to Argentina. Steaks are huge, seered and succulent and are available in near half-cow weights. What's cooking? Rump, sirloin, fillet or rib-eye steaks are served with sauces such as garlic, bearnaise and pepper. Prawns, chicken and duck are also available. Starters (tuna carpaccio, grilled vegetables) and desserts (grilled pineapple, marinated figs) are mercifully light.

Another great meal at Gaucho Grill Hampstead. Consistently high quality beef and interesting starters - went with a scallop Toridito instead of a ceviche this time which was very tasty. spot on service. extensive and good argentine wine list...only gripe is when the bill comes, usually seems a bit on the high side

Gaucho Hampstead, still fabulous. For a "chain", Gaucho is still exceptional. After eating steak here, you just don't feel like eating steak anywhere else. Tender, tasty, exquisite, delicious. Vegetables equally excellent, particularly sweet potato chips & roasted vegetables. Lovely decor & moody ambience, pleasant background music ; friendly, charming & capable service. All in all this is still a reliably good & impressive place to spend a really enjoyable evening. Not cheap, but very good.

We arrived on Saturday evening to be greeted by smiling, great looking, and attentive staff. Whilst the credit crunch rages there was no sign of this in evidence as the large restaurant was heaving with people. The steaks were great, the service excellent, the wine list extensive (but expensive), & the experience enjoyable as ever - it's not a cheap place to eat but it's a great place for great steaks!
