The owners of Sydenham’s Gurkha’s restaurant must know that the famed strength and resilience of the Nepalese-British soldiers owes more than a little to the great food they’re raised on. Inspired by the brave men of Nepal, Gurkha’s restaurant serves fine cuisine inspired by the Nepalese kingdom with that same focus on honesty, tradition and health its namesakes are known for. The authentic flavours of Nepal are found throughout the menu, the dishes prepared using specially sourced ingredients by a talented team led by an award winning head chef. Also on Gurkha’s menu is a range of better known Indian offerings, including biryanis and masalas, for those who like what they know. Opened in 2000, Gurkha’s is modern and spacious with elegantly classic furnishings and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for winding down after a day at the office or running around after children, enjoying conversation with a loved one or simply allowing yourself to truly relax and let the flavours of Asia take over.

The service and food at Gurkha's in Sydenham is always brilliant. I would recommend the gosht podina and masu bhutuwa (hope the spelling's right). Be warned the raita has sugar in it!
Ghurkas is our favourite local restaurant the prawn puri starter is to die for. Love it
Gurkhas in forest hill, was a pleasant surprise, not sure if they have changed chefsbinthe past year or two but it is a definite improvement on our last visit. We a large table of very fussy eaters and they accommodated us brilliantly. Service was great and food fresh and hot adjustin the spice levels accordingly. Did not like our last visit and was forced to go back this time and now very glad we did as it was a really lovely experience and we will return !

Our trip to Gurkhas in Sydenham was a really lovely experience. We had very nice service and the food was lovely. I had the prawn special for starters and it was the tastiest starter ever, followed by the sizzling mix grill with salad which was very nice too. We will definitely return !
