The India club restaurant is up some stairs above the Strand Continental. It is in a time warp. It appears to be the first ever curry house. The service is friendly and the food is well executed but dull compared to modern curry houses. They do not have a tandoori oven so tandoori chicken is fried. The madras and the baigan curry are hot and 1 dimensional only being flavoured with dry spices. The paratha was a fried chappati. It is an experience not a gastronomic delight.
Great cheap eats in central location, this is a hidden gem.
The India Club in London is one of my favourites. The food is like a home-cooked meal, and you can't beat the history.
The food in the India Club was great as usual. The price was really good too. Service was good and the staff were friendly. It is a nice byob restaurant and I hope to be back soon.
India Club, London. Excellent food and vibe as ever and the byo makes it great value as well!
