8 Treasures

About 8 Treasures

Situated opposite Ealing Broadway tube station, 8 Treasures is an Asian restaurant where you’ll enjoy all the flavours of the Orient in relaxed, modern surroundings. The name 8 Treasures refers to the Buddhist Eight Auspicious Treasures (or ‘babao’), and while you may not find spiritual enlightenment during your visit, heavenly food is in more than adequate supply. From delightful dim sum to mild curries and moreish noodle dishes, 8 Treasures offers a comprehensive menu of favourite Chinese dishes with a splash of Thai thrown in for good measure. In addition to the well-known classics done to traditional recipes the kitchen also prides itself on its specialties, those creative additions inspired by China but given a twist for originality - the sizzling plates are a must try.

Having been here close to ten times, my last time was a bit of a disappointment mainly due to two reasons. First, the two meat dishes that I ordered (French beans with pork bits and a sizzling plate of black pepper beef) simply contained too little meat. This drew my attention to the price. This has been one of the few Chinese restaurants to kind of justify their high prices but I'm not so sure anymore. The Xiaolongbao wasn't up to its usual standard either. Service was good as usual.

Great food and an extensive menu, met the owner which was nice but service was a bit slow-took a long time to get the mains out and although staff and service was friendly it was difficult to get their attention at times

We tried Ealing's 8 Treasures Chinese Restaurant because it's still pretty new and has been heavly praised in recent reviews. On arrival the staff were welcoming and remained attentive throughout the meal. The beer and wine were well selected and reasonably priced. The food was fine but not as impressive as the reviews suggested. Some of the dishes were tasty whilst others lacked a certain something. Perhaps it was a lack of attention by the chef as it was a quiet night. Overall, not bad.
