Julie's Restaurant & Bar

About Julie's Restaurant & Bar

Julie’s Restaurant inside the Portobello Hotel has been a magnet for over 40 years for the bohemian Notting Hill generation, and now to the A-list London social set. Opened in 1969, Julie's Restaurant has been referred to as the rock chick of the restaurant world, and the decadent originality of this iconic restaurant remains. A maze of glamorous rooms and eclectic furnishings with murals, church pews and pulpits, the restaurant is a honeycomb of small eating areas and alcoves each in a different style including a medieval private banqueting room. You can sink into golden velvet sofas flanked by rich Indian carvings and stained glass windows, and the great names from rock and roll, high society and Hollywood have passed through these doors. Originally a builders yard, Julie’s is named after interior designer Julie Hodgess, and the exciting atmosphere and accomplished menu here make this a must-see stop on the London dining scene.

Great location and lovely building. However we found the food was over-priced, so not sure if we would go again...

The perfect restaurant to catch up with friends, round table upstairs, superb service from the minute we all walked into the restaurant! We stayed there till closing and could have stayed there for the night! Excellent food and no waiting time!!! Looking forward to going back again soon!

Julie's Holland Park, always nice, however service was very slow. maybe it's because it was Mothers Day? however as they knew were totally full they might have hired some additional staff that day. That said the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.. we sat upstairs and whilst I like the eclectic tired look of the room it was cold due to the gaps int the windows/doors and I presume the heating was not on? Pate was plain, roast chicken great.. Roast Beef not so good.
