Kai of Mayfair

About Kai of Mayfair

If you’re fed up of the same old Chinese food, book yourself a table at Mayfair’s Kai. With a raft of awards to its name, Kai is the last word in inventive Oriental cooking. Behind an interior which owes more than a little to the world of designer boutique you’ll find understatedly gorgeous rooms, oozing style yet as welcoming as a favourite friend’s dining room. Simple striped upholstery sets off decadent chandeliers while the most classic white tablecloths are a foil to gleaming marble tiles and wrought iron balustrading. Meanwhile the menu offers in equal measure recognisable flavours and exciting new ideas; the very thing which keeps you coming back time and time again.

As a chinese, I found the fusion food here quite amazing, but I would not recommend the crispy duck as it is nothing like what we have in china or any good chinese restaurants.

This was my second time to go to Kai Mayfair for lunch, and I can highly recommend the set lunch menu with the accompanying wine tasting menu. I can also warmly recommend the wasabi prawns as a starter.

Absolutely amazing food, great service and atmosphere. Drinks a bit too pricey, but it is in Mayfair afterall! Defnitely worth going to, try the Wasabi Prawns and rare sirloin starters. The medley of Pork main is the best dish. World class. Very fresh and light ingredients. Only complaint is if you book late (after theatre) they will relay tables around you for the morning, which I felt could have waited till we'd left. Otherwise faultess.

Kai Restaurant in Mayfair. Very nice lunch in very relaxed surroundings. Service was good, although maybe slightly too attentive/intrusive. Food was excellent, with the 6 textures of chocolate and peanut dessert to die for. Had siered diver scallop to start, beautifully cooked. Slighly disappointed that they had no ostrich for my preferred main (pan-fried ostrich with 3 chillies), but was substituted with beef and was good.
