Arquati Bistro & Restaurant
About Arquati Bistro & Restaurant
Occuping a prime central London spot right on the Strand, Arquati Bistro & Restaurant specialises in serving up authentic Italian food in the heart of Theatreland. Marco Arquati and his family have run restaurants on this site since 1983; the latest incarnation sees Arquati going back to his roots, serving up Italian food from the region of Emilia-Romagna. This region features some of the best Italian produce – Parma ham, balsamic vinegar from Modena, and, of course, the famous Bolognese sauce – so diners at Arquati are in for a treat. The restaurant has been newly done up, and there are now two floors featuring casual and fine dining and a fab new bar. Like the décor, food here is rustic and homely; the menu features lots of hearty pasta dishes like tortelloni and rich, delicious desserts. Produce here is sourced from London’s top food markets – Billingsgate, Smithfields and New Covent Garden all get a look in – and the wine list represents Italy and France’s best.

Arrived early, warm welcome received! Very homely feel to the place and quite romantic. My partner and I had a starter and main course each and a bottle of Prosecco, which was sublime. The service was a bit slow, they needed to be prompt at times, although all staff were very polite and accommodating. Overall a very good evening and they very kindly deducted 20% off out bill to thank us for our custom. Would certainly return!
Arquati Bistro & Restaurant, London: An excellent venue with good quality food and service. I picked this for a pre-theatre meal with my partner and have to say I was not at all disappointed with my decision. Was the highlight of the evening.
Arquati Bistro, 417 Strand WC2 Relaxed but efficient service, and high quality fish dishes, only marred by the sauce on the lemon sole being a little too astringent. The location is handy for West End theatre trips, and pleasantly quiet as a venue to escape from the bustle of the busy Strand outside.
Food was as good as always,, just the service let them down a bit, It wasn't full and pre theatre has always been good, but it took three 'asks' before we got the bill and that made us tight on time for 'curtainup'
Booked to eat here after seeing matinee @ the Adelphi a few doors down. Friendly staff, efficient service except for forgetting a request for bread. V busy with pre theatre dinners, but if you aren't in a rush (and we weren't) it's a great little unpretentious restaurant. Authentic italian dishes, good portion size and great desserts. They even put candles on my mum's dessert when they saw it was her birthday which was a lovely touch. Will definately return.
