There are all too many restaurant’s in the Chalk Farm and Primrose Hill area of London claiming to be a ‘neighbourhood favourite’ and La Collina is one of only a few really living up to the title. Casually sporting an AA Rosette, La Collina seems more focused on pleasing its customers than the critics (who are, in turn, impressed), offering really authentic Italian food made with good ingredients sourced to reflect regional flavours from throughout Italy but with a menu particularly influenced by the north of the country. In addition to favourite Italian dishes, La Collina introduces visitors to less famous regional delicacies with seafood especially worth seeking out and the all-Italian menu equally worthy of attention. Modern but nonetheless unpretentious, the restaurant’s interior allows the menu to do the talking, both the ground floor dining room and the basement space, tucked away and accessible only by spiral staircase, decorated simply with a handful of modern prints and plain furnishings. This purist approach to both food and surroundings is what makes La Collina a hit with a wide cross-section of the local community.
