Reviews of Alisan
restaurantguides.co.uk review of Alisan
With its name derived from a mountain in Taiwan, this new and upmarket Chinese forms part of the £1.3b regeneration which encompasses the new Wembley Stadium and the surrounding area. What is striking is that the restaurant takes a prime spot bang opposite the glistening stadium and is bound to attract hordes of punters once the latter is officially open. In the meantime, the large 200seater Alisan is content with serving locals with cooking which leans on the modern albeit with some familiar Cantonese favourites. Colourful dim sum items include a greenhued bamboo mooli dumpling to threestyle mushroom wrapped in carrot strip to scallop with pork. Sadly though, the dim sum is all rather bland tasting. The a la carte in fact, fares better. Steamed diver scallops with vermicelli is gorgeously addictive while the spinach broth with razor clam, ginger and spring onion is just lush. Mains like venison strips in black pepper and garlic along with jumbo prawns with chilli are very well rendered. Desserts are quite European in execution. Overall, the decor has a characterless corporate feel
