Le Gavroche

About Le Gavroche

Holder of two Michelin stars and, more importantly, winner of the toptable Best Food award, Michel Roux Jr’s Le Gavroche is among London’s most well loved restaurants. An unimposing doorway in the heart of Mayfair leads in to a temple of gastronomy. Whet your palate with an aperitif in the cosy bar with its country house atmosphere before moving in to the classically designed main restaurant where crisp white linen meets heritage paint colours and tasteful artwork. There may be a dress code here but Le Gavroche is nonetheless unpretentious and comfortable – sink in to a comfortable chair and be spoilt for choice by some of the finest French food the UK has to offer and the pick of a 60,000 bottle wine cellar.

We had a beautiful table in a lovely position affording us views of arriving guests and most of the restaurant. The food was exceptional, particularly the poached oysters in champagne sauce. Outstanding desserts to complete a romantic and wonderful dinner.

My wife and I visited Le Gavroche for lunch as a birthday treat. The decor was quite traditional but cosy. The atmosphere was excellent and the place was very busy considering it was a lunch time. The staff were very attentive and the food was wonderful. As an additional treat, Michel Roux Jr turned up and wished my wife a happy birthday and took a picture with her which she absolutely loved. It should be said however that Le Gavroche was very expensive so will remain a rare treat.

I went to Le Gavroche in Mayfair for dinner on 24th January. What an amazing experience. Expected the food and service to be outstanding and was not disappointed. Michel Roux visited every table and we even had a quick peak at the kitchen. Worth every penny.

I am a Foie Gras fiend and I absolutely loved my starter of Chicken mousse with foie gras served on an artichoke base. Exceptional. Michelle Roux Jr the man himself came to our table and charmed us with his smile and hospitality. I look forward to my visit to Parliament Square!
