A very cosy little pub with some great ales. Food was pretty good (particularly the messy pork burger) though some portions (the fish dishes) were a little on the small side and coulsd do with some sides. Service could have a little more responsive too, but overall giid friendly atmosphere and good value
Had evening meal in the Leather Exchange & the Leather uppers In London. Food was great, service was average - they had a lot of christmas bookings in. There were 2 of us sat at a table which was randomly jammed in a corner facing the wall inbetween the 2 parties. They should have said they were full and not let us book. O well, would go again as food really was great but not in peak season.
We headed to The Leather Uppers for an early dinner. The restaurant was empty on arrival, but started to fill as we ate. Whilst under-impressed with the building (from the reviews & write up I expected it to be grander) the food and service was fabulous. Patrick our NZ waiter was knowledgable & always on hand. The bread & oil to start was delicious, followed by soup and amazing pork medallions. Dessert was scrumptious in portions that satiated but didn't leave me feeling guilty. Good coffee too!
Two of us ate at The Leather Uppers in London SE1 on the evening of 26 October. Downstairs, The Leather Exchange was heaving with people, a complete contrast to the upstairs restaurant, which was almost empty. Limited but interesting and reasonably priced menu. We had the roast pork loin Special and the transtional fish and chips. Good portions, well presented. Minor complaint - no veg included with the Special. Chosen wine NZ Sauvingnon out of stock Cost £50 for two; go in a group
Three of us had dinner, for the second time,at The Leather Uppers. The menu was fairly short, and did not offer more than pretty standard gastropub fare. But it remains nevertheless a delightful venue. the dining room is attractive, the tables well spaced and the service friendly and professional. We shall return.
